What a Name

700 years before the birth of our Savior, the prophet Isaiah spoke of a son that would be given. In this prophecy, Isaiah declares, "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6). In this verse, Isaiah speaks of a baby that has many names. These names tell us about the character and work of Jesus Christ. This message of hope brought light and life to the darkness 2,700 years ago, and it continues to bring light and life in the midst of the darkness today. Jesus is the Wonderful Counselor for the hurting, Mighty God for the weak, Everlasting Father for the fatherless, and Prince of Peace for the broken.
